Welcome to 2nd grade!

I am YuWanda Renee’ Mines, the daughter of the late Phillip and Odessa Mines of Demopolis,Alabama. I was born and raised in Demopolis, AL but I have lots of family in Uniontown, AL!

 I attended Demopolis High School and graduated with honors in1991. In 1995, I graduated from the University of West Alabama with a B.S. in Elementary education. I later received a Master’s degree in education In 1999, Leadership degree in 2004 and Education Specialist degree in 2014, all from the University of West Alabama.

I started teaching in August 1995 at Uniontown Elementary School under the leadership of the late Herbert O. McFadden.  In 1997, I was awarded Teacher of Year at Uniontown Elementary School. I have been employed with the Perry County School System for 26 years! I spent 19 years at the Perry County Board of Education in Marion, AL as a coordinator and the remaining years as a 2nd grade teacher at Robert C.Hatch High School. 

Also, I am an active member of Electa Chapter #8 Order of the Eastern Star in Marion, AL,  UWA Liza Howard Alumni Chapter, National Education Association (NEA), Alabama Education Association (AEA) and Perry County Education Association (PCEA).  

I like dogs but I love cats! My favorite cat “Sunshine” was stolen in 2017😩. I am the oldest of three siblings, Darnessa Mines, George Hudson and Lisa Winn.  I love teaching but I love students learning in a “wonderful “ environment!  Let’s make this year great!
